Snapshot of Red Wings Playoff Chase
After last night’s win over the Ducks, a quick look at where the Wings’ stand based on the current point pace of the final wildcard team in the East. A rough December ate into the cushion the Wings had but a strong start to 2024 has pulled them back within striking distance.
Looking ahead, the Wings have 10 games remaining in January. The good news is that seven of those are at home where the Wings are 10-7-3. The bad news is eight of the 10 opponents were playoff teams last year including all four conference finalists from last season. If the Wings can get steady goaltending from Alex Lyon, continued special teams success, and some luck at 5v5, they may be able to fight their way back into a playoff spot by the end of the month.
